You will here see that the steeple is slimmer and
taller than on the drawing of Eckhoff in 1823.
On a drawing from 1945
of old Vinje and the church the artist, Arne Berg, didn't know about
the cross.

What happened to the Steeple,

I remember as the steeple fell, when the old church was
torn down. First the outer cover was removed and then only the framework
was left. Knut Rausstò was the one that cut the frame with a saw. He
cut diagonally and the steeple with cross and cock fell to the ground to
the ground and everything was broken. It was a shame they tore down the
old church!
